oscar roundup

This is the first year in my life that I stayed up until the end of the Oscars, which means I was up until after midnight since I live on the East Coast.  There was something about this year's show that left me not wanting to miss a moment.  Maybe it is because I am older and appreciate the intensity of the talent that is out there right now, but I feel like this year's Oscars were tough calls in almost every category.
Preparing my roundup of fashion favorites proved as tough.  Many critics feel this year's red carpet was boring and I agree in some ways especially compared to the Golden Globes, however there were a few looks that stood out for me.
I loved the bridal-inspired gowns of Georgina Chapman and Charlize Theron.  Chapman's self-designed Marchesa dress was etherial with sparkling embellishments, while Charlize Theron's highly structured gown featured barely noticeable sparkles on the peplum.

I love the old Hollywood glamour of Jessica Chastain's look and the glimmering brocade details of Kristen Stewart's dress, her hair is another story.

These two shimmering pastel gowns are gorgeous and the perfect hues for spring.

These two midnight blue gowns stood apart in a sea of pastels and feature fun details while both are  flattering silhouettes.

Sandra Bullock always looks stunning, I love the highly intricate beading and details of her dress paired with a simple and sleek hairstyle.

These two styles were bold on this mostly monochromatic red carpet.  I love Kerry Washington's Miu Miu dress and the surprise back of Jennifer Garner's otherwise simple gown paired with exquisite jewels.

By far my favorite look, I love the pale blue-lavender color and the feathery layers of tulle and chiffon of Amy Adams' stunning Oscar de la Renta gown.

I did not like the shape of Jennifer Lawrence's dress when I first saw it, but after examining the detail of the fabric and seeing the color more clearly, I loved it.  Her makeup was my favorite and I loved the surprise of a glittering back necklace.

Did you watch the Oscars this year?  Which look or looks were your favorite? Did I leave anyone out? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
