Reason to Celebrate!

A little over a year ago I was in Chicago attending The Simple Plan workshop and I set a few goals for L. brook events, goals that at the time felt too big and unattainable.  These goals seemed unattainable because I felt (and sometimes still feel) that I went about starting this business in a little bit of a backwards way.  My background and professional experience are diverse and I didn't start planning and designing weddings after I had spent years working with another person doing the same thing I wanted to do.  Instead I saw a void where I lived, which is not to say that there aren't people in my area that I admire doing something similar, but I felt like there were a limited number of creative people and professionals that were design-focused planners.  With the encouragement of my friends, family and a few people in the event industry, I decided to take my art and design background coupled with the planning and logistics skills I had gained from my teaching experience and dive head first into starting this business.  Since I first started my business, I have been really fortunate to find clients that truly trust my abilities and vision and have allowed me to be a part of such an intimate and important time in their lives.  In addition to these clients and friends, I am really lucky to have met other creatives that have supported me, encouraged me and collaborated with me. So back to those goals I set, one of the things at the top of my list was to be part of Style Me Pretty'sLittle Black Book of wedding professionals, which is why I am incredibly honored and excited to announce that I am a new member of Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book!

Style Me Pretty is one of the first wedding blogs I started reading and in some ways has been a huge influence in my business since before it was even a thought.  I loved reading SMP when I was planning and searching for inspiration for my own wedding and then when I kept visiting the site daily even though I was no longer planning a wedding, I realized that there was probably something more to this than just an interest in weddings.  All of this is why I am beyond honored to have been considered and selected to be a part of their Little Black Book!  Thank you for all of your support and for following along with me, I can't wait to see what the next year will bring!
