With all the snow we have been experiencing the last couple of weeks, it is hard to believe that a year ago myself and a couple of amazing wedding pros were scrambling to plan a winter-time inspiration shoot. There are so many inspiring things about the snowy landscape in Maine and I really wanted to showcase how beautiful a winter wedding could be, especially since winter sometimes, seems to last forever. The reason we were scrambling is because planning a winter inspiration shoot, that takes place entirely outside and with hopefully a lot of fresh snow, is more tricky than it sounds. Aside from the freezing temperatures, Maine weather can be very unpredictable to say the least. When the week came for us to have the shoot, there was one unseasonably warm day in which a lot (meaning the majority) of the snow melted. We debated whether or not to just cancel the shoot, but we really had our hearts set on seeing our ideas come to life and knew that if we did not go ahead with our plans we would have to wait an entire year for the timing to be right. On the actual day of our shoot, it was freezing; negative temps, blustery wind, cold. Our models were so patient and amazing and everyone that was involved and stood outside to help set up our table as it sunk into the icey, snow covered, field, I cannot thank enough.
Our hard work paid off and the result was more beautiful than I imagined. Emily captured the romance of the winter landscape perfectly and somehow managed to make even that frigid day look beautifully warm. We were all honored and excited when Ruffled (one of my favorite wedding blogs) featured this winter wedding shoot last year and equally excited when Well Wed Magazine published the images from this shoot in the most recent issue of their beautiful magazine. If you have not had the joy of looking through this beautiful publication, you must find a copy. This magazine-- which feels much more like a book with thick, luxurious paper, is filled with page, after page of inspiration. To see this shoot featured again, and this time in print, was a huge honor! The image above is from the Well Wed blog, in which they used some of the images from this shoot to create a winter wedding inspiration board. I love how they selected cooresponding Pantone colors and titled the inspiration Frost & Flowers, illustrating that our design could easily inspire winter weddings in different ways.
